Mailskinner blocking IE6

I am writing this from within a RealPlayer media browser because my IE6 is
blocked. It worked fine until I clicked on an emoticon that seems to have
brought in a mailskinner trojan, current Norton antivirus and firewall
notwithstanding. I uninstalled the mailskinner but my IE6 would only flash
open and closed. I did two Norton scans: no virus. I did a microsoft check
and now the IE6 seems to have dsappeared. What's the next step?

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

I finally got my browser back this a.m. by uninstalling Google Desk Top and
the Google Bar to my IE 6. Evidently, the mailskinner has a thing for Google.
