All,

we've got a large-scale mailing to do, 70,000+ investors and the Access
Mailmerge solution I've put forward is being deemed unsuitable, as "...Mail
merge is unsuitable for a mailing of this size...".

Has anyone got any feedback on that?

Thanks

Damien

It sounds to me the problem is Word MailMerge, not Access. The error
message seems to come from Word, not Access.

Suggest you post to a suitable newsgroup for Word asking about MailMerge
limits.

If everything goes out first class then it's just a long tedious job that
will cost you more in house than out of house. Even if you have a fair
number of employees that don't do much most of the time and hide the expense
it will cost more.
If I was an investor and knew what I know about big mailings I'd want to
know why you are wasting my money.

However in that case Access and word would work just fine. How fast does
your printer print letters and how many envelopes will it hold at one time?

If it is not going out first class then Access is absolutely the wrong
solution, unless your Access table is CASS certified.
CASS certification is tedious and expensive and you would have to write a
*lot* of code to change 1st st, First street, 1st street and all the other
variations into something the post office wants to see, and that's just the
start.

Farm it out to a house that does mass mailings.
