we can recieve mail fine, but messages go to outbox and won't send.....the
error message says that the program disconnects from the server.....can
anyone help?

your server connection has been unexectedly terminated, pop3.comcast.net,
ssl smtp.comcast.net, no socket error number 153, error code:0x800cccof

This problem is often caused by interference from your
antivirus program. Windows Mail is not compatible with most
McAfee or Norton security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download and
install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Notes:
1. The official server name is mail.comcast.net, but the alias
pop3.comcast.net should work.
2. Next time don't paraphrase an error message. Right-click on it,
copy, then paste into a message.

I am having the same problem with my new laptop-it has Norton free for
60days-how do I unistall the error message is
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'Re: ', Account: 'Windows Mail', Server:
'mail.charter.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F What exactly do I do-you seem so smart?

Thanks for including the complete error message.
Does that problem happen at home or when you use the laptop
away from home?

There is a possibility that the account has become corrupted,
so delete it, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

Like many of you I am having this issue too. Maybe the MS-MVPs can let
Microsoft know how nice it is to have a problem that clearly should have been
solved in the pre-release versions.

I am yet another with this problem (I think). I get disconnected
intermittently. Sometimes it works when I send mail, sometimes it doesn't.
I'm using Kaspersky and I will turn off the email anti-virus. I use Wave
Broadband out of Port Angeles, WA for my email. Do I still need to do
something with Windows mail after I turn off Kaspersky's email anti-virus?

I replied in your other thread "Disconnect upon Send."
To avoid confusion and duplicate effort, it is best to limit a given
issue to one thread.
