I removed two profiles I had under the Control Panel Mail/Mail Setup -
Outlook. I now appear to have lost some Outlook email. Is this mail really
lost, or is there a way to find it?

I also am not not clear as to exactly what this Setup feature does - so
maybe I dug a hole and am getting deeper in it.

Thanks,

Steve

Dear Steve,

search on your harddisk for ".pst" files. Your emails are stored in PST
files. If you only delete the profiles, the email are not lost, they are in
the PST.

Create a new Outlook profile and then open the PST file (that you found) in
the Outlook menu under "File/Open/Personal Folder (PST).

How to create an Outlook 2003 profile:

Oliver, your reponse was extemely helpful. I am ALMOST there but I cannot
tie the exisitng pst file to the Profile. I know where the old file is, but
cannot tie it to the profile I just set up.

I believe I followed your advice to go into Outlook/File/Open/Outlook Data
File, I selected the file, but it does not show the existing emails tied to
that account.

I then went into the Mail Setup-Show Profiles, and highlighted the new
profile. I then click Properties, then DataFiles, then Open Folder. The file
I want is listed but I cannot tie it into this new Profile.

Your note said the File/Open/Personal Folder(PST), but mine reads
File/Open/Outlook Data File, rathet than Personal Folder (PST) for my Outlook
2003.

I am somehow missing something? Sorry for being so dense.

Thanks, Steve

You should at this point be able to select that PST and click OK to add it
to the profile,

Outlook 2000 and earlier contain "File>Open>Personal Folders File" whereas
Outlook 2002 and 2003 have "File>Open>Outlook Data File"
