Further to my previous post, windows mail sill not working....

I have removed norton completely from my machinae and down loaded avast.

yet still the same problem persists with windows Mail

ie can receive but not send mail.... details as below

help !

It is likely that Norton corrupted the account.
Recreate the account from scratch, then delete the old account.

My mail send function also quit working! It has been just fine for the past
3 weeks and today...forget it. Everything I send, goes into my outbox, but
will not go any further. I do not have Norton on this computer. It is a
brand new computer with McAfee on it. It appears there are a whole lot who
are having this problem today! what gives??

Ive deleted the account and recreated, and im still in the same place, ie
receiving is fine but sending is not working.. im really not an expert but
could there be a conflict from windows security settings and mail ? surely
i must have the email settings correct since i am able to receive...
really appreciate your help.

There is no conflict with Windows Security. What you are seeing is the
standard prompt when the mail server refuses to accept the username/password
credentials.

I presume you have checked with your ISP to ensure you are using the
correct format for the email username; some want the entire email
address while others just want the part in front of the @ symbol.

If you were not moving to Outlook shortly, at this point I would
advise you to try upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because we have
tried all the appropriate things for Windows Mail, and there is nothing
else left to try.
