Since installing IE7 I find incoming mail going stright into my Inbox
whereas previously it was held in my ISP's mailbox for until I screened it
with with Mailwasher.
I've checked through Tools\Options but can't see how to get back to my
original setup.

You do realize the IE7 is not a mail program.
Outlook express is, but not IE. Unless you are talking about accessing
a website for mail.

Assuming you meant Outlook express, then look at tools|account settings|
and pick your mail account|server settings.
This is where you can pick how often to pull and if you want to leave
mail on the server or not. Normal operation is to pull every 10
minutes an put in your inbox.

Thanks all, but the 'send & receive at startup' was already unticked.
which is why I raised the question here. I have already set to check for
mail every 10 minutes but, in any case, Mailwasher free (usually) shows in
the notification when new mail is waiting at the server.

Thanks, Jim.

Yes, but that install seemed to create this problem. It also corrupted the
details of my Newsgroup account. Weird.

As you can see, OE6 is now sending multiple copies of my messages.
The latest one (not to this NG) disappeared as I was still reading it
through in the Outbox before pressing 'Send and Receive'!

The 'send messages immediately' box is and always has been definitely
unchecked. What is happening?

Jim.

If you're convinced that IE7 caused these problems, simply uninstall it and
you'll be returned to IE6. If this solves your problem, there are ways to stop
windows update from installing IE7. If you need an up-to-date browser that
doesn't cause problems to your system, download and install Mozilla Firefox.

Many thanks, but if I can't repair OE6, I think I'll take David's advice and
switch to Mozilla Firefox.
I have all the programs on DVDs from from Australian PC User magazine.
IE7 is 'supposed' to be more secure and after all the problems I had
installing it, I'm a bit reluctant to delete it now.

Thanks, Jim.
