mail preview

windows automatically opens and displays my first email at the top of the
page. How do I set it so that like outlook, it won't open without me double
clicking?

any help would be appreciated

I think this will do what you want...

Tools - Options - Read
uncheck "Mark messages read after displaying for xx seconds"
ok
 
You will have to turn off the preview pane:
View, Layout, uncheck "Show preview pane".

Is it possible to have Windows Mail NOT show deleted mail in the preview
window, without making all the other folders not show mail in the preview
window?

Answered in the thread "How do I NOT show..."
Please don't ask the same question in multiple threads.
It just dilutes the manpower resources and clutter the forum unnecessarily.
