Mail Merge using Outlook 2002

If a nickname is present it is inserted as the first
entry in the 'Address Block'. John and Sarah is the
Nickname. John Doe and Sarah Smith is the Last Name.
This will display as: John and Sarah John Doe and Sarah
Smith. This sort of entry is necessary since the
addresseees have two separate last names. Use of
the 'Spouse' field does not solve the problem.

I need to keep the Nickname so that I can use it in
the 'Greeting Block'.

This appears to be unique to Outlook 2002 since the use
of 'Nickname' is not available when using Mail Merge in
Word 2002.

Surely this has happened to more than me! Does anyone
have a solution or is this a 'bug'?

List the precise steps (including the exact Merge Fields) you are using to
insert the name in the merge. I suspect you would do better to select the
individual merge fields rather than "Address Block"
