Hi,
if im doing a mail merge, of say an address, and some of the addres
may have a line or two missing, does word autmatically skip those thos
blank spaces and move every field one up, or does it include them

It depends. Word will generally suppress blank lines if you've ended each
line with a paragraph mark. If you use a line break, as I do, it doesn't
work.

And of course if the blank lines are left you can lose them by means of
conditional fields, one after the other, to insert both the line feed and
the field content only when there is field content eg

{Mergefield Fieldname1}{IF{Mergefield Fieldname2}<> "" "
{Mergefield Fieldname2}" ""}{IF{Mergefield Fieldname3}<> "" "
{Mergefield Fieldname3}" ""}etc.
