Until May 16, my sent e-mail went out. Since then it has not, and seems to
be in OUTBOX PURGATORY. I can't send any of it, and OEHELP suggested to
others doesn't work either. I checked with my ISP, and they still don't
require authentication.

This is Vista, MS Mail 6.0.6000.16386.

I am discouraged. This format for "customer service" is bogus.

Use the following utility to clear your outbox.

http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx

If it didn't, you're the first one for whom WMUtil didn't clear the outbox.

To prevent this problem from getting worse, take the following action.
Read http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3
If you have McAfee or Norton antivirus, uninstall it. Reboot and try
Windows Mail again. Once you get your email working properly,
download and install a less troublesome antivirus program such as the
free Avast. Whichever antivirus program you keep, be sure to
disable its email scanning option.

As noted, OEHELP doesn't help.

1) I need to send the messages already in OUTBOX

2) Why did this happen and how do I keep it from happening?

I am currently paralyzed, unable to do any work at home.

First of all, the utility program you can download from
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/ is not called OEHELP,
it is called WMUtil.
If you would explain exactly what happened when you
tried to use it, we may be able to figure out what went wrong.
Just saying "it doesn't help" is not helpful.

If WMUtil can't fix the problem, then your other choices are:
a. send the message via web mail, or
b. get a different email program like the free Mozilla Thunderbird, or
c. wait for Microsoft to release the replacement for Windows Mail
later this month.

The reason problems happen with Windows Mail is because it
is not compatible with certain antivirus programs.

I am having the same problem. Mine started May 7th. I have 2 other pc's
connected to my network running Outlook Express on XP and Windows 98. Both of
them work fine. I have verified my settings across all 3 machines. Anyone
have any ideas?

Do you get an error message or do the messages just not go out when you do a
send and receive.

If you get an error message, the post the full contents of the message.

I have the same problem. I dont know the stmp format to put in the set-up box
for outgoing mail. Here is the message I got:The host 'smtp.bellsouth.net'
could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name
correctly.
Subject 'Re: NC Outer Banks', Account: 'pop.bellsouth.net', Server:
'smtp.bellsouth.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

After reading various posts related to Windows Mail problems I was able to
fix my outgoing mail failures - for now anyway - by: disabling my McAfee
e-mail virus scan, deleting my Windows Mail account, and deleting my
MSMailMessage stores. I also had a MSMail process that was "stuck" that I was
able to end in Windows Task Manager. Doing all of this cleared my Outbox and
things are working again.

Now I know what to do next time this happens!

Thanks for all of your posts on these MSMail problems.

Thanks for the feedback.
