'Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages' unavailable in Mail Format of
Outlook 2000. What needs to be done to enable these options. What has been
done to fix this is Outlook has been completely uninstalled and reinstalled
and also Office 97, un & reinstalled. User has admin rights. OS is WinNT4.0
SP6. All updates and service packs have been installed. We have over 300
users with this same configuration (Outlook 2K and Office
97), and this is the only 'unique' problem for this one user.

We are just looking for a fix for this problem.

In what order did yuo do this? I think Office 97 must be installed first,
then Outlook 2000.

Thanks Brian. I do recall installing Ofc 97 after OL2000. I'll try that. I
assume Outlook installs after word excel, PPT,etc. if it were Ofc. 2003?

Brian, one more quick question while we're on the subject of OL2000. We have
another user on OL 2000 and he uses the Journal function to record Word,
Excel, PPT, and Access docs. It was working perfectly up until recently. I
tried uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook and Ofc 97. I also did a repair
on Outlook. Outlook_help.com suggested to delete the Journal entry out of the
Registry under HKEY_Current_User. Still no luck. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

office xp and 2003 require the same versions of outlook and word if you want
to use wordmail, so the install order doesn't matter.

M'kay! But I was referring to Office 97 and Outlook 2000. But...you get
20,000 points...for being blonde! Woo hoo!

and you get 100,000 for forgetting you also asked about 2003:

there is no word mail with mixed versions, so unlike 97 and 2000, the
install order doesn't matter. (all of the apps install at once anyway)

I don't use Office 97 much and never have used the journal function, so
can't help in this regard.
