Hello

I just purchased a new compac computer with the vista operating system on it
from Fry's. I am a reasonably competent computer user.. so far I have had
nothing but problems with this system. They are as follows:
1. The Windows Media Player crashed after I loaded a number of my cd's and
created some play lists. ( I guess I loaded too many.. I think it was 10 CDs).

I off went through the restore program and got the thing to run again. I
did a disk check and repaired the errors, deleted all the audio files and ran
a check disk again.

I think the media player works.

2. I got a message that I did not have enough ram in the system (only
512MB) and that the video driver was inadequate. I added 512MB ram and new
Fusion Video accelerator board.

3 System now sez I need to back up files.. bought new DVD disks and told it
to do this. System backup failed. I turned off backup (HUGE WARNINGS) and
rechecked the disk.

4. Turned on computer this afternoon, the microsoft windows browser failed.
Also could not get email on. Rechecked disk (on boot).

5. Now no email and it says I lost the address book.

During this whole ordeal, the system has been sending error messages to the
internet (and presumably the great Microsoft in the sky). I got the word
back from the cloud that there were no solutions for these problems.

I have another computer that has windows xp on it. It got hammered because
my wife turned off the firewall. I fixed it and decided to buy this new one.
I don't need to be hasseled by all these problems on a $6B operating system.
Is there a way to revert to XP?

If a brand new system is generating a host of problems it should be
returned to the manufacturer. Check with Fry's - the sooner the better.

I'm having the same problems. I hate the new Vista. I can't do any of the
tasks easily like I could on XP. It is a daily struggle and most days I just
want to the throw the whole PC out the window!. Sorry I can't help you but I
feel better that I'm not the only one.

Get Windows Live mail - it takes away all the crap in Vista Mail. Get off
the MS web site. You will love it.
