Are you using Windows Messenger and have recently upgraded to SP2? If so, the Windows
Messenger version within SP2 does not support Hotmail (and therefore are no alerts). You can
resolve this in two ways, you can either downgrade to the previous version of Messenger (see
below) or use MSN Messenger.
If this doesn't apply to you are already using a version of Messenger which supports Hotmail,
there has been some recent maintenance at Hotmail which periodically has been breaking this
function and will simply fix itself.
