Someone has given me the text for a macro to run to sort
names by last name wihen the last name is the second word
in a line. It is suppose to make a table of the names,
sort it by the second column, then remove the table
structure and leave the sorted names. But..... I have no
idea how to get this text into a macro. Any help will be
greatly appreciated

Hi Susan,

You probably don't need a macro. Just select the list, open "Table > Sort",
and choose "Word 2" as the sorting key.

But..... I have no idea how to get this text into a macro.

Have a look at http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/MacrosVBA/CreateAMacro.htm

Another FAQ article might help with your sorting question, if some names
have middle names or initials:
