Macros and Security

In another thread, I was advised to add a macro to my presentation so I could
search for slides with notes. Things seemed to be okay, but now they're not,
and I need to understand how to deal with macro security in PPT 2002, because
it's really getting in the way.

I set my security level to medium so I could run the macro in the presentation.
But now each time I open the presentation, I'm prompted whether to enable the
macro. I wrote it myself, of course I want to enable it. (Okay, I copied it
out of a posting to this newsgroup, but I added it to PPT, so I trust it, and I
want PPT to trust it, too.) How can I get PPT 2002 to silently enable this
macro every time without compromising my general macro security settings?

In the meantime, I made a copy of the presentation with the macro. This new
presentation also prompts me about the macro each time I open it, and I don't
really need the macro in this version of the presentation, so I deleted the
macro from the presentation. Tools>Macro>Macros shows that there are no macros
in the presentation. However, I'm still prompted to enable or disable macros
each time I open this presentation. Why am I being prompted about macros in a
presentation that has none, and how can I get PPT to stop doing this?

Thanks,

Scott

1) On your own computer you can produce a self signed digital certificate
and attach to you presentation which will stop powerpoint asking for macros
to be enabled. This is a litle difficult to explain how to do- so try a
search. The certificate tool should be in start > all programs> office>
office tools and once produced you can add it in the vba editor-
tools>digital certificate

In the prese which still "seems" to contain a macro open it and press
alt/f11. Have a look for module 1 (or any other module) - if its there delete
it and resave.

As it happens, I didn't have this feature installed, but I managed to install it
and get it working. At least I think I did :-)

Ah, that seems to have solved the problem. Many thanks.

Once you get the digi cert installed in the powerpoint you should get an
option "to always trust" when you open.
