Macromedia Flash Player will not play

Hey,

This has been going on for months and I'm getting sick of it. When a flash
movie or somethign plays on a site for lets say an intro page to a site they
sometimes have flash, a message will appear saying to install flash player 7.
I have installed it about 20 times now and it still will not work. It will
not work on Mozilla but it will work on Netscape. Ie is my main browser and
its a pain to switch browsers everytime I wanna see something in flash as
netscape takes a long time to start up. I have done everything in what Jan Il
said to do and it still will not work. I have Windows Xp Pro w/ SP1. Any help
would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank You,

Eric

Hi Eric :)

A few of things could contribute to the problem. Have you checked your
firewall to see if the ad-blocker or Flash blocker is set to on or block?
Also, there are several Pop-up blockers that will block Flash unless you
turn it off. I had POP-UP Blocker and it would not open Flash at all, and
it took me a while to figure out what was doing it When I unchecked the
Kill Flash it stopped. Some Flash has pop-ups and the blockers will see
them as ads or and kill it any way.

Also, if you have SpywareBlaster installed, be sure you have Kill Flash
unchecked - Open SpywareBlaster - Tools - Click on Flash Killer then uncheck
"Switch off Flash Player" or in v3.1 Disable and block Macromedia Flash (4X
5X & 6X) in Internet Explorer.

and..............

Remove Flash from Add/Remove programs, including all registry entries for
it. Reboot, then go to Macromedia's site. Since it is Flash based you should
get the dialog to install Flash.

However, if you are getting error messages when you click the link, then
your host file, blocked sites under restricted area in IE, or other security
apps that you might be using that can block sites is interfering. Check
your Antivirus, and your Zone Alarm if you have it.

If you have any type of Toolbar or 3rd Party program with an ad blocker,
disable it or uninstall it. Set your security to Medium if you have not
already done so.

Ya I checked and tried everything. Still won't work. This has been going on
even after I got my firewall (Zonealarm Pro).

Hi Eric :)

When you uninstalled the Flash player, did you remove all traces of it? You
can't reinstall a fresh download unless all traces of the program are
removed, so that is does not see anything when it tries to install.

Try the following:
