Bob

I'm helping a local non-profit group that uses an Excel
spreadsheet with macros. They got a new computer and
copied their files and moved them to the new machine. When
they went o use the spreadsheet with the macros they no
longer work, nor do they appear in the macro menu.
The text for these macros does appear on the sprewadsheet,
but they are no longer usable.
Is there any way to retrieve these macros and make them
work again?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Bob,

The macros may reside in another workbook. Make sure you have copied all their .XLS files from the old machine to the new machine,
into similar folder/paths. For example, there may be "Personal.xls" in a folder XLStart, usually along the lines of:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 2000\Office\XLStart

Personal.xls is usually a macro library file. It would need to go into the new machine's XLStart folder to remain functionally
similar.

Also, the linkages between the "Text" on the worksheet and the macros may have become corrupted by the move. Right click on the
macro buttons, and select "Assign Macro" from the pop-up menu that appears. You may simply need to re-find the macro for the
button.
