I have a list within a form (with minimal information) - i need to be able to
select a record from the list and when i click on that record i want it to
open the associated record in a form so you can see ALL the details

I am trying to do the same thing. So I am awaiting to see what responses you
get. I have completed a macro, but it opens up to a blank form and does not
go directly to the record I am searching.

Same. I've done the macro, but it won't bring the correct record up on the new form.
My macro was built using the macro builder, and just has an OpenForm line, with the 'where condition' pointing to the original form (where a record is selected) It seems like what I'm missing is the code that tells the new form to pick up the selection from the old form.
