I have successfully opened an ACCESS 2002 database in ACCESS 2003. It is a
secured database. I wanted to check the macro security setting so I went to
Tools->Macro-> and of the choices available under the submenu,
Security was not one of them. Of course, I do not have any macros in this
database. So, the question is must one have at least one macro for this
choice to appear or is there something else going on here.

Hi, Jackson.

First, expand your menus. Select the Tools menu -> Customize ... to open
the Customize dialog window. Select the "Options" tab, then check the
"Always show full menus," then close the dialog window.

Now you should be able to open the Security dialog window by selecting the
Tools menu -> Macro -> Security ...

"Macro Security" has nothing to do with whether or not you have macro
"objects" in your current database. "Macro Security" is used by all
applications in the Microsoft Office 2003 suite, not just Access. In the
other applications, VBA procedures used to customize or automate processes
in those applications are called "VBA macros."

For more information on the Windows Registry settings for Sandbox Mode for
your Macro Security settings in Access 2003 and/or other Office 2003
applications, see this Web page:

In addition to Gunny's advice elsewhere in this thread, you may need to
reset the main menu bar (Tools, Customize, Toolbars, Main Menu, Reset).
