I have a macro (hide/unhide) in a workbook (EXCEL 2000)
that follows a hyperlink in summary page to go to
different sheets/tab.When I click on hyperlink it takes to
specific sheet and when I click on summary tab it hides
the sheet I visited. When I email this file to several
people this is what happened:
a.when some of them opened the file the macro did not
recognized so their excel did not prompt enable/disable
macro.
b. some of them were able to enable macro but the
hyperlink did not work.
c.Some of them got a message about digital signature...
d. for some them it worked just fine.
So, can any body tell me what is going on??

I tried saving macro in low security and resend them.one
of them was able to run it fine.

Is there any way that I can send this file with macro so
that everybody will be able to open and run it fine???

Thanks for your help

The security settings you set are only for your computer. You cannot set the
security on somebody else's PC, nor would you want them to set yours or we
would all be running malicious scripts that somebody wrote for us.
Unfortunately, you cannot do much about the way your macro works on other
PC's. Some people have their security set to prompt for a digital signature,
some people have macros auto-disabled (therefore no prompt), and some people
have medium (prompt), and the rest are going to be at low (these should work
fine). You could even have issues with the Excel version causing a problem.
Sorry.

Hi Sanj,

The level of security isn't set with the file, it is set within the version
of Excel that opens the file, for very good reasons. If anyone wrote a
macro designed to damage your files, it would be silly if they could simply
save it as low security to bypass your settings wouldn't it?

Low allows macros through.
Medium asks for confirmation.
High disables all macros except those from trusted sources.

So, the solution is for you to digitally sign your work, and your users to
decide whether you are a trusted source. Or, for them to reduce their
security settings to Medium (Low is foolish, except for anyone who never
opens anyone elses files).
