All,

We had a Windows 2000 server box serving as our VPN server
(PPTP). We just upgraded it to Windows server 2003 and it
has been working fine for everyone except one employee. The
difference in his environment is, he is using Macintosh
with Mac OS X installed. He didn't have any problems with
the VPN client before but now, it times out every now and
then and also, he gets really bad network performance.

Does any one have any idea ???

Thanks,

-Kirtan

There is not just one this that is causing this problem.
First, the MTU size was different on the VPN client and
Windows20003 server. We changed that on client side and the
connection stopped dropping frequently. The second issue
is, ideal timeout. We are still investigating that.

Has anyone got any further on this. I haven't changed the MTU settings
on the Mac yet but my client does tend to drop off quite regularly and
it seems to drop of virtually every time they access a web browser. I
set up a proxy onsite, which works fine for onsite and other offsite
users, but this user gets a really slow connection.

Kirtan,

Thanks for the information. Please keep us informed of your progress.

I had to do a quick fix and put VPN Tracker on the Mac and accessed the Win
2003 Domain network thru a Sonic Wall VPN appliance. However I still need to
connect via the Win 2003 RAS VPN server also.

Can someone give the settings they are using with the Mac's VPN Client and
the Win2003 RAS Sever VPN settings. I have not been able to get any
connection at all with the Win2003 VPN Server.

Hi Robert,

Are you unable to connect from a PC, or is it just Macs playing up?

Alastair

Hi Alastair,

No problems connecting from PC using XP-pro PCs VPN Client.
I can't get any connection to the Win 2003 RAS VPN Server using the Mac OS X
VPN Client.
Any ideas?

Robert
