My machine is restarting on its own, and I assume it is because of the
current virus. I have no virus protection, but I do have windows xp
firewall set up. I am using COmcast Cable modem. I have tried to
download the latest patch from Microsoft, but the automatic restarts
continue. Is the virus in a file? I moved most of my important data
to a hard drive, then formatted and reinstalled XP, but the problem
still happened. I am wondering if this is a comcast cable thing or is
there something I need to install/remove to stop this.

If you reformatted your drive and reinstalled XP then the
virus will have been removed. Of course, without adequate
anti virus protection, you could just as easily have been
reinfected. It could also be a problem with your comcast
modem, in which case you need to speak to comcast
technical support. Is it possible to disconnect the cable
modem? If so does your pc continue to reboot?
When you finally get things sorted i suggest you go to
www.grisoft.com and download their free anti virus
software. You just give them a few details, email
address, name etc and they will email you a product code
number. When you get the product code, install AVG anti
virus and you will be protected. Just remember to
regularly update the virus definitions via the update
scheduler. It is also important that you download the
microsoft patch and install it.

Hope this helps
