Machine freezes

I have a machine that is just finished as a virgin load. If I try to defrag it it will freeze. If I go to the event Viewer it has not recorded any events since yesterday lunchtime even though it has frozen and been rebooted half a dozen times since then. Any suggestions ?
 
I would start with a check disk.
My computer, r/c C Drive, properties, tools, Error checking, Check now,
check both boxes, reboot.
