I think Arial Black is the problem. I don't remember if there's a fix for it
or not, but I *think* SP2 for Office 2003 fixed this bug. (Are you using PPT
2003 on the PC? If so, try installing at least SP2 -- although SP3 was
actually released today.)
Alternatively, remove Arial Black from the Mac file, re-save, and see if
that does the trick.
Oh, hang on, I think we have an FAQ on this...ah, yeah, here it is.
PowerPoint opens presentations as Read-Only, won't allow editing when fonts
embedded

The problem is Arial Black Italic. You need to install it on the PC. Sorry I
didn't check more carefully before. That's what I get for going by memory.

Hi Echo,
Thanks for responding. I did what you said and under replace it lists the
following fonts:
ARIAL
ARIAL BLACK
ARIAL NARROW
TAHOMA
WINGDINGS
No Question marks listed.
I tried replacing them anyway but no change.
Thanks,
Tony
No question marks by any of them.

Go ahead and open the file as read-only, then go to Format | Replace
Fonts.
One of the fonts probably has a question mark beside it. Install that
font
onto the PC.

Have a MAC PowerPoint file that we need to take about 6 slides from.
When
I
open it in PC I get this error message: "The presentation cannot be
edited
because it contains a read-only font."
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
