MAC session time out

I have a MAC OS 9.2 client that is disconnecting from a
Win2K server. The server generates the following System
Log entry:

Source: MACSRV
Event ID: 12061
"Session from user 'xxxxx' was timed out and disconnected
by the server. The IP Address of the Macintosh workstation
is in the data."

There is no data that follows. This particular MAC, as
well as many others, has connected to the server without
incident for months. The error began appearing in the
event log last week, and the user states that when ever
she attempts to copy a file greater than 1 MB, her system
locks up. I searched the KB and forums, but have not found
a reference for the "ID". Any assistance would be
appreciated.

I located a solution - RE: Macs drop connection October 1,
2003. Tony Sheppard posted the fix.

Your not there yet. This is an excuse and not a
solution. The problem is that the server will not hold
the connection. You may want to talk to your clients
because they are probably going to complain that they
loose connection while they are working.

If you find a true solution to the problem, a huge
userbase out here will be in your debt. This problem has
existed since windows started doing mac and is probly some
simple code that no one ever cared to fix since they can
blame Apple.

Collin,
The post you refer to has been purged. Can you either
email me the fix or repost it?

Thanks,
Chris

This is a problem I've seen ever since SFM was released. It's not OS
version specific; it's not a physical network problem. I do remote
support for the printing trade, and I've seen it on literally hundreds
of SFM systems; it seems to be the rule and not the exception. This
is a bug and Microsoft needs to fix it. Soon would be good.
