Mac .pps to PC

I have PowerPoint 2004,11.5.1 on a Mac Power PC, OSX,
version 10.3.9.
I have sent a .pps package to a PC and the person got a <<password
protected>>
message.
How can I correct this?

Try manually adding a .ppt or .pps to the file name.

The folder was already titled <<Bob-Julie.pps>>
