No, I think that the OP wants to do it the other way around. The
adapter cited above allows the use of VGA monitors with a Mac, and
the OP wishes to use an Apple monitor with a PC. The principle is the
same, however, and such adapters do exist. If the OP has a nearby
university (or any other large-scale user of Apple equipment), Mac
shop, or Mac user group nearby, there might be such an adapter
available for free/cheap from the Mac tech support people-they tend
to have such things lying around, if you can find the right person.
Otherwise, look in the usual places for used or new equipment.
I found this via google using "VGAtor" as word to search for:
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/adb-17.09.03-001/
I'm afraid it is german and the "VGAtor" isn't aviable yet...
"Apple Expo: Apples digital display at analog graficcards
At the MAC-Expo in Paris Dr. Bott shows the prototypes
of a transducer, which transforms a analog VGA port into
a Apple specific ADC port (Apple display Connector).
This transports additionally to the signals of a DVI connection
the electricity for the display and USB signals. The VGAtor
brings along a Cube power pack for the needed supply.
! Apple displays can not be used only with the VGAtor to Macs
! with VGA connection, but function also to PCs -- a condition
! is only a graficcard with high resolution.
The control software for the display, which comes along with Mac
OS, is missing however still at the PC. They work at it, as Dr. Bott
said. Delivery date and prices for the VGAtor are still open."
Hope, I could help.
greetings from germany
