I have a floppy disc formatted on a Mac, which I want to
open - but I use Windows XP. Is there any way I can
access a Mac text file on the floppy without specific
software to do this ?

Thanks

There is 2 ways can do this:

1) On your Mac, you have the ability to format the disk for PC, do this and
then transfer data to the disks, or if you already have PC formatted disks,
just insert the disk in the Mac and transfer data to the disk

2) You can buy software to install on your XP

I wish to correct this answer.

There are one or two ways that you can. It will require the download and
purchase of 3rd party software (which Microsoft can not and will not
support, being it a 3rd party package not make/licensed/distributed by
Microsoft).

I wish I had some of the names of the software handy, but that I do not.
Check various websites like downloads.com, tucows.com and the like for
further information/availability of the 3rd party programs.

And, Michael, why so quick to answer an abrupt "No.", anyway?

She specifically asked if there was a way to do it without specific
software. It was to that specific question I was replying. The wording of
her question implied she already knew there was third party software that
could do this, hence her question applied only to whether or not it could be
done within XP.

I believe my answer was both correct and appropriate and I stand by it.
