mac computer

Hi Michael555
At least one person (my eldest daughter's second cousin, once removed) told me it was because they are 'cool' and he for God's sake is an English teacher in a local minor public school.
I think I have asked this question before so could someone please dismantle one and tell - or is it the OS?
Cheers

when u can get better for a far less one

Many years ago when I first took notice of computers, that the early Macs were very exspensive and were used,as far as I can remember,by graphic artists mainly. But quite why they are still pricey is anyones guess. Dare I suggest a rip off?

I missed this. Our Michael's been a member here for years and subscribes to the open source ethos. Trouble is, he wants everything open source

Just kiddin' our kid ;)

Why are Macs expensive?

Let's pick a few words:

Cosmetics
Exclusiveness
Supposed better graphics (once true now a myth)
Supposedly better OS (Matter of opinion)
Cosmetics
Not so liable to viruses and malware
Nerdiness
Compact
A sense of snobbery and oneupmanship
Cosmetics

And there we have it boys and girls :)

And this debate is as old as the chicken and the road saga. I've said it before, I'll say it again:

I thinks Macs are good and they look great but they cost more, simple as.

If I needed one I'd get one but I don't need one so I won't get one.

Thanks for the replies
I don't want one but still don't understand what the attraction is - is it different inside (which I doubt) or is it the OS (no idea). If it's just 'cool' because of the half-eaten apple on the lid then I have no more to say on the issue.
