MAC clients unable to change password

I work at a school where we have alot of MAC Clients.
Poor me right? For some reason the users are unable to
change their passwords on the MACs. If they go to a PC
it works just fine. Or if I change the password on the
DC that holds the PDC emulator role its ok. On the MAC,
they first have to connect to the Server/GC in their site
and then enter the old password and the new one. Here is
the error they get:
Change password failed.
Sorry, the old password you enetered was incorrect.
Please try again.

MAC OS is a combo of 9 and 10.

Ive seen posts where admins with MAC clients are having
the same problem. Has anyone a solution for this?

Win2K AD - SP3 on all servers.
12 sites all DC's are GC's.
120 day password policy - default domain gpo.

It's for NT4, but the PDC emulator would essentially work the same way.
