I upgraded a computer, replacing the MB/Processor/RAM and HD. The
motherboard is a Biostar M7NCD (non Pro version). The instruction manual
leaves
a lot to be desired.

The problem I am having is two-fold. First, the computer will not go into
sleep mode (WinXP w/SP1). It momentarily shuts down, then turns itself back
on. Power settings have been tried using Home/Desktop and Minimal Power
Management.
Second, the instructions say that 3 jumpers (JUSBV1-3) must be set in the
2-3 position in order to power on the system using USB device (in this case
a USB mouse). I have set the jumpers correctly, and enabled the option in
the BIOS. The result is no power to the mouse at all. Jumpers in the 1-2
position give constant power to the mouse. I think the two problems are
related, but haven't been able to solve it.

Any suggestions?

Thanx,
Fitz

I had a similar problem caused by a serial port extender card which was
somehow triggering the wake-up function upon shutdown. I just disabled
wake-up in the BIOS and that took care of it.

I don't know if the card is defective or just not designed to deal with
wake-up. It's pretty old.

Have you installed the mother board drivers pack?

Yep- latest unified drivers from Nvidia....did not install drivers (cd) that
came with MB, went directly to download site for latest version.

This has onboard audio/LAN, so right now, no PCI cards installed. Just the
AGP video card.

Try the CD.There may be core files that the downloaded files don't
contain.Then re-update the drivers.Also Control panel/Add New Hardware
Wizard and let it scan and install anything it finds.

Thanks for the help. Unloaded the chipset drivers. Loaded CD drivers and
software, then updated from the Biostar site. All works- sleep mode and wake
from USB device. I may be misreading the instructions, but the jumper
settings work in the 1-2 position, when according to the manual, they
shouldn't. But why screw with success- go with it.
