M$ antispyware causes machine to run slowly

Ever since I loaded the Microsoft AntiSpyware tool, I've found that, for a
time after it runs, applications take a ridiculously long time to load.
Outlook Express, for example, just took nearly two minuts to load, and over
a minute to retrieve email on a persistent broadband link. Opening the next
email took just as long. Normally this takes about 5 seconds.

Norton Antivirus also does this but not to the same extent.

What's going on here?

Uninstall it and see if your machine returns to normal. Microsoft just
released it's new version called windows defender beta2. Uninstall MSAS and
try the new one but remember it is not a complete product so do so at your
own risk.

I would be surprised if it were the Anti-Spyware Beta causing this problem.
It sounds more like a problem caused by a "Spam Killer" type application.
Do you use one of those?
