Hi,
There are different versions of Lycos side search. Here are some possible
fixes.

http://install.sidesearch.lycos.com/install/default.asp click on HELP at the
bottom

http://www.spysweeper.com/lycos-sidesearch-uninstall.html
I've used Spy Sweeper a few times. It's been safe and effective, if a little
too aggressive (it found "spyware" that I don't think is really there- maybe
just a difference of opinion.)

If the previous steps don't remove Lycos, go to
http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm Work through
steps 1-6 then step 7- post a HijackThis log to the forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30
See "Instructions for posting HJT logs" at
http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=4075

Also see security tips at:

Hope this helps,
Don

Spy Sweeper didn't work for me, I used a combination of Spybot and ad-aware
(appaerently each removes things the other doesn't)
