hello: I've just installed a Phillips cd burner. I also installed the
included software which is NeroBurner. That works fine but if i drag and
drop a file or files to the burner's icon it always ends up telling me that
the file could not be written. Is there some incompatibility between xp and
Nero's software? Any suggestions on how to solve this would be appreciated.
thanks
brian

First, be sure the version of Nero that came with the burner is compatible
with XP. Check your version against Nero's web site. Second, sometimes OEM
versions of software are incomplete. In order to drag and drop files to a
burner as you would a floppy disk, you need packet writing software to be
installed. something which is not supported natively in XP.

The packet writing component of Nero is called InCD. If that was not
included with your version you need to upgrade to the full version of Nero
and install the InCD component. If it came with your version, you need to
install it as Nero alone is mastering software, the same software used to
create audio CDs and in and of itself does not support this function.

Thanks - yes I do have InCD installed: it gives me an icon in the system
tray which allows me to format re-writable cd's. Still won't drag and drop
in explorer though. Writes fine in NeroBurner. Any more ideas?
thanks again

You know that Nero and INCD turn off XP's burner when installed. You need to turn it back on

1.. Open My Computer.
2.. Right-click the CD recording drive, and then click Properties.
3.. On the Recording tab, turn it on.
