When I attempt to use the local user manager, I get the
following error message:
"Unable to access the computer <local computer name>. The
error was: Invalid syntax"
Has anyone else seen/resolved this issue? Any ideas would
be appreciated...

Dan,

Try adding MSXML version 3.1 component and see if it helps.

KM,
Thanks for the reply... But I already have MSXML 3.1 and
MSXML libraries installed. Any other ideas?

I recall the same problem in my image that I fixed a very long time ago so I
can't remember the fix now.

However, I have the SLX file with the Local User Manager fixed. I'll try to
suggest you a few components to add to your image and we'll see if it fixes
your problem:

1. MSXML 2.6 (I remember MSXML 3.1 is getting added automatically by many
components, however 2.6 seems to be the fix for the .msc)
2. Make sure Administration Support Tools with all its dependenncies
resolved is added to your build.

If it does not help, we can dig in further.

Make sure you have Microsoft Management Console
(MMC.exe). You may also need certain WMI components as
well.
