An airliner caught by winds of more than 150 mph Saturday march 1st as it tried to land during a storm grazed its wingtip on the runway before the pilot wrestled it back off the ground.

The incident happened on Saturday as the Lufthansa Airbus A320, with 131 passengers on board, approached Hamburg airport on a flight from Munich.

An airline spokesman said the plane was rocked by wind clocked at 155 mph as it tried to land.

The left wing grazed the runway for a moment, but the pilot was able to stabilise the aircraft and take off again in what the spokesman called an "absolutely professional manoeuvre."

The plane landed safely shortly afterward on its second attempt.

As you can see in the first touchdown attempt the pilot was using so much throttle to try and straighten the plane up he was always on a losing battle, the buffeting from the wind makes it nigh on impossible to land in a straight line. God Bless the power was there for a lift off for another attempt to Land .

That is some Windsear

on a sunny day you can get this close to a 747 in the Carribbean though

That is one heck of a bounce, it's a good job the engine didn't hit the runway when it skids.

Saw this on the news and I was just shocked; that's crazy. I wonder if the pilot were trying to land it himself or if he had autopilot on? If not then the pilot did pretty well :thumb:

Anyway, skilled pilot and it's a rare thing to see ...shocking when you see it isn't it?
