Lubricant suitable for scanner runners?

I have a Microtek ScanMaker 6800. My scans are showing slightly darker
bands on the darker areas, and these change ij width and position from
scan to scan, so I'm assuming this is runner friction.

I've tried a variety of lubricants on the runners without success - they
reduce the bands but don't eliminate them. The original stuff (traces on
the ends of the runners) looks like a very lightweight white grease.

Anyone know what I should buy, and what sort of store might supply it?
I'm in the UK.

Thanks for any help in this.

What you need is a white lithium grease.

You shoud be able to find it in a tube at electronics stores.
