Hi all,

I have heard that there is a trojan virus called 'lsass.exe' which can
infect my Win XP Pro OS?

I have searched and found this 'lsass.exe' in my registry and in my
c:\Windows\system32 and c:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 but the 'Date
Modified' is the 04/08/2004 for both locations.

This seems to be a long time ago for a trojan to be lodged in my OS, can
this be so? But if the thinking is that it is a trojan virus then can anybody
tell me how to get rid of it?

Regards

The ones you found are an essential part of Windows. However, malware
sometimes hide inside
programs which have similar names.

You get rid of them during a thorough scan with your AV supplemented by
Spybot and Adaware.
