I'm aware that Lsass.exe is a legitimate process but is also a popular
target for worm/virus (?) attacks.
A few days ago something started triggering Lsass.exe going into
overdrive on my PC. I'm not sure what that 'something' is - it could be
related to some other process/action, or it could in fact be time-related.
When it happens, Lsass.exe takes over all available CPU resources and
makes my PC grind to a halt, although I can reduce the impact by setting
the priority of the Lsass.exe process to "Idle" in Process Explorer, and
everything seems back to normal after a reboot.
However, the situation is clearly unsatisfactory.
Any suggestions for getting to the bottom of and rectifying this issue?
Thank you.
