I have a windows 2000 machine and every now and then I see
that a program called LSASS.exe starts hogging the CPU. I
searched on this a bit and all results I got back were for
domain controllers. I am not using this box as a domain
controller to the best of my knowledge. Is there a way to
check and turn this off so that I dont see LSASS.exe hog
the CPU like that?
Has anyone else seen a similar problem?

Thanks,
Vikram

Are you using group policies to set file and folder security on domain
controllers? That can cause LSass.exe to spike when the policy is
refreshed.
