lsass.exe error with A7N8X deluxe

AMD 1.24GHz, 512 Mb mem, win 98 upgraded to home XP, after loading NVIDIA
nForce drivers, and after rebooting, I get message: lsass.exe error: "An I/O
operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably,the registry could
not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the
system's image of the registry." Clicking ok, the system reboots with same
result. I can sometimes get it to start with the reset. Uninstalling the
NVIDIA drivers clears the error, but of course it doesn't run right. No
sound, etc.
Any help? ralphie

I had also suddenly a slightly different lsass error at boot (an invalid
parameter was passed to a function or service). I could only click OK, and
then it reboots. I got stuck in a cycle. Fresh install of XP gives the same
error, and I almost got nuts after installing XP for the 20th time.

Later I found it was due to a memory failure, which appeared with memtest86.
After I removed the bad DIMM, and installed XP new, it was over. The error
didnot came back ever since.


However, the dimm was not exactly bad, but had a timing conflict with my
other dimm which causes the error.

Do you have upgraded your mem with another dimm lately?

I suggest you should try memtest86 to check it.

If there is no memory problem you probably need to do a fresh install of win
XP. Sometimes upgrades suck.
