lpt1 doesn't work with windows 2000

I can run my HP printer only if windows 2000 is not
operating? What's going on here? I tried reinstalling
Windows 2K but it didn't help. I reloaded drivers,
deleter other printeres, etc. Nothing seems to help.
Please advise.

Install Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000 Pro.

If not, what model of printer do you have? Have you tried using the newer
drivers from the HP web site http://www.hp.com/cposupport/software.html?
