LPT port timeout problem

How do I change the timeout settings for LPT1? The program I am using, uses
the system command and does not use a printer driver. When the program
prints, the cmd box pops up and stays there for about 20 seconds or so.

In all likelihood, the timeout setting is configured in the printer
itself. A printer dialog box might stay open so long as the spooler
is still functioning and the printer is still printing since today's
LPT connection is either bi-directional, EPP or ECP.

Ok. One of the engineers where I work said it was in the registry, but I
was unable to find it. I guess he was wrong.
