Hi all,

I accidently un-installed my LPT port on my SONY VAIO
Notebook. I am unable to reinstall it. Any pointers would
be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Hitesh

This indicates a BIOS problem, which is the software that
finds and test all of the initial hardware, such as the
ports, with your system. I just had this same problem
last week. Not certain how it was accidentally removed,
but you need to access your BIOS for your specific
computer (during intial boot process pressing the F1,
ESC, or the DELETE key prior to your operating system
appearing. A message at the bottom of your screen often
tells you which key to press to enter your Set Up).

Check with your manual or the maufacturer if you are not
certain about doing this, since one wrong move in your
BIOS can prevent your PC from ever booting up again
without further problem solving. Once in the BIOS there
is a menu item related to communication devices or an
advanced area that enables your ports, including LPT1.
Look for it, select it, and follow the directions on the
screen how to change your various selections in the
different fields.

Good luck!
Gregg
