lpr filenames

Sending from either Xp or 2003 to an HPUX LPR queue the
filename in var/spool/lp/requests/<printname> has the IP
address of the sending Xp or 2003 machine rather than the
name appended to the printfile - this in turn causes the
spooler to disable and the file cannot be printed.
How do I ensure that XP and 2003 pass the name and not the
Ip address to the lpr spooler?
 
You might want to try the original lpr port rather than the standard tcp/ip
port in Windows, this might help.

Further Info - Xp to unix based LPR works, 2000 to unix

based works, 2000 -> printer mounted from 2000 -> unix lpr
works. 2000 - > printer mounted from Xp or 2003 - > unix
lpr adds the IP address and not the name.

Xp to HPUX LPR is fine
2000 to HPUX LPR is fine
NT to HPUX LPR is fine
2000 -> remote printer on 2000 -> hpux LPR is fine
Ditto for NT and NT to 2000 -> hpux LPR
BUT 2000 - > XP (or 2003) -> LPR appends the IP address
causing the queue on lpr to disable - the filename
in /requests is xxxxxx123.123.123.123 rather than
xxxxxcomputername. This appears to be seen as a security
issue and hpux disables the queue.

Just one further bit of information:-

If the originating computer has a fixed IP address the
problem does not occur. If the originating computer gets
it's address from DHCP then the problem occurs.
 
Did you have a chance to look at the problem?
I posted a little more detail in that client that uses the
remote printer is using dhcp. It's name never gets resolved
correctly using lpr and the filename therefore has the IP
address. All other software (eg nslookup etc) resolve
correctly.
