lp records recording

i am/have been trying to record old vinyl records to cd's
and have all sorts of programs which should work but do
not. i am using a dazzle connector between the units.
nothing seems to work. help

My limited experience in this area involved connecting the audio out from my
home audio to the line-in of my computer soundcard and then telling
MusicMatch Jukebox (freeware) to record the line-in signal as a wav file. I
then used the wav editor which came with Nero to remove the background
hiss/rumble. dadiOH has many other suggestions.
