I just found a cool site, where you search for computer parts, and it shows you (from a selection of retailers) the lowest price. I have just designed a system for a friend, and I managed to take £300 off the £1500 price tag! Well cool!

Tell me what you think of it

Never mind Hack we do appreciate the post, oh and I did vote. ;)

It's a great site!

I'm just wondering how many retailers it supports? It will be great as the data base of products grows and develops :)

I just tried a sample product, an Athlon XP1800, and the second lowest price, inc. p & p, would have come from e-buyer, but they weren't listed.

And if your order with e-buyer had been over £100.00 excl. VAT, they actually work out cheaper as they don't charge for p & p then.

Still, all in all very good :) That Komplett place looks interesting.

Similarly, dabs have a small order charge of a few pounds if you spend less than £75 it is now (I think).

It's probably always worth checking out the top few when searching, plus any usual favourites not included. Still a valuable resource though!

Be careful about komplett.co.uk I couldnt get the shop system to work, and I just got an e-mail telling me that I am now a member, I signed up 4 days ago!

I've brought from komplett a few times, never had any problems at all, & prices are usually good too.

Any good retailers in the US? I don't want to pay for overseas shipping... and I don't know how to convert pounds to dollars.

Hehe, I learned something today. Pounds are more than 1 usd... I think I'll just stick to US retailers... don't want to pay for overseas shipping.

Not happy with Komplett.
Ordered memory, 512M PC3200. However, BIOS detects memory as 448M (looks like one of the 64M banks not working). Also, the motherboard I was sent was clearly RMA'd by someone else because although it works, the plastic memory clips and the IDE plastic casings are broken, and there are grubby fingerprints on it.
Now, Komplett want me to pay the cost of returning the items, even though they shipped me faulty goods! the faulty memory is not their fault, but selling an RMA'd motherboard as a new item is poor form.
They may be cheap, but buyer beware.
