I recently upgraded from Windows ME to XP.Also, the
motherboard had to be replaced. Since then, the sound is
only audible at a very low volume, even though the volume
is turned up to the maximum, mute is unchecked etc. I have
tried updating the sound driver, but the system says I
have the most up to date driver.Any ideas on what to do
next?

Try reinstalling the sound driver, go to the website of
the make like Aopen or something...
