I have a Windows Vista 32 system with 2Gb RAM with a Creative X-Fi
Xtreme Audio PCI-Express card installed on a ASUS Motherboard.
Playback is fine through iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc. Now I'd
like to RIP my vinyl to digital files though and need to use the card
to record from.
Today I hooked up a turntable to a AV Preamp and connected the output
of the amp to the Xtreme OPTICAL INPUT. EXCELLENT sound and volume
through headphones connected to the amp, but I get almost NO audible
signal through Audacity or Mediasource when I play a record. When I
double up connecting to the mini-plug INPUT from TAPE RCA output from
the amp I can get a somewhat better signal but have boost it up so
much there is BIG noise.
I've uninstalled the Xtreme and all the related software and re-
installed with the CREATIVE drivers, not MS ones. No real
improvement.
Any idea where the issue lies? I'm putting my money on Creative
drivers but I'd like a 2nd/3rd opinion.
Thoughts?
