hi, I have a laptop running vista home premium, and i think the low power
mode is great! usually i have my power pluged in when i go into low power,
but my question is, should i be doing this with a laptop? should i actually
turn it off instead of low power mode? because... ever since ive got vista
ive never actually turned it off, i always put it in low power. Thanks!

Lately I've been leaving my computer ON all day and putting it into sleep
mode when I leave it for extended periods. Previously on Windows XP I
wouldn't do this because the case fans continued to spin, but on Vista all
the fans turn OFF as well - this is important because I want to save energy
and slow the accumulation of dust in the case. I also have a UPS so the
computer won't crash in the event of a power failure. If your laptop is
really going into low power mode and the case stays cool to the touch you're
probably OK.
